On November 25, 2022, 4 delegations (3 from North Macedonia and 1 from Kosovo) visited the CMCC headquarters in Lecce to check out the installations set up within the scope of the OFIDIA2 project, and also participate in a technical coordination meeting.
The presence in Lecce of the foreign delegations was a follow-up to the visit of the CMCC delegation led by Prof. Giovanni Aloisio, Head of the Supercomputing Center and member of the CMCC strategic board, in Ohrid, North Macedonia during the 4th International Symposium for Agriculture and Food that took place last October.
The delegation from North Macedonia was made up of representatives from the Macedonian Foreign Ministry, the Forestry Department and the National Park of Mavrovo, who are mainly interested in sustainable solutions for firefighting. The ultimate goal is to replicate the OFIDIA2 project outputs in areas that have been suffering extensive economic and environmental damages to the woodlands over the last 10 years.
The delegation from Kosovo was represented by the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Pristina and the former Deputy Minister of Agriculture, who is now in charge of the local Bodies. The Kosovan representatives showed their interest in the development of new university courses on highly technological subjects based on the collaboration with CMCC experts, and discussed the details of the initiative with Prof. Riccardo Valentini and Prof. Giovanni Aloisio.
