On October 12 to 14, 2022, a delegation of CMCC took part in the 4th International Symposium for Agriculture and Food that was organized in Ohrid – North Macedonia by Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje – Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Food.
CMCC representatives gave different presentations to illustrate the project outputs and started talking about potential future collaborations between CMCC and new project partners and stakeholders from the Balkans, including the enhancement of OFIDIA2 results towards a third phase of the project.
The presentations focused on fire danger prevention with the ultimate goal of improving life sustainability and economic prosperity across the interested areas.
The opening speech was given by Prof. Riccardo Valentini, member of the Strategic Board of CMCC and full professor at the Department for Innovations in Biological, Agri-food and Forest systems – DIBAF, who was connected remotely and spoke in front of 250 participants from 22 countries, including representatives from 16 universities. The Symposium ended with a presentation on CMCC and the OFIDIA2 project given by Prof. Giovanni Aloisio.
The event was also an occasion to showcase the awareness-raising activities and events set up within the scope of the project to raise people awareness of wildfires risk, prevention and operational fighting strategies.
Several meetings were held to strengthen collaboration among new potential partners, stakeholders and research institutions.
The coordinated effort among the stakeholders involved in OFIDIA2 achieved an effective monitoring system for the interested regions, which could also be extended to the national or foreign territories in the future.
